The professional development course organized by Sumy State University in collaboration with the College of New Jersey and American professor Stuart Carroll for English language teachers from secondary schools in Ukraine has ended.
The results of a recent questionnaire analyzing the Virtual English Language Educators course at Sumy State University have shown overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants.
1. Meeting Expectations: 70% of respondents indicated that the course either "Far exceeded expectations" or "Exceeded expectations", demonstrating a high level of satisfaction.
2. Learning Outcome: All respondents (100%) reported that they learned "A great deal" in this course, indicating a highly beneficial learning experience.
3. Level of Difficulty: While 30% of respondents found the course "Easy", the majority (70%) characterized it as "Appropriately challenging", suggesting a good balance between difficulty and engagement.
4. Amount of Material Covered: Most respondents (70%) felt that the amount of material covered was "Just right", while the rest (30%) thought it was "A lot, but not too much".

5. Attractive Aspects of the Course: The most common reasons cited for the course's attractiveness were:
o Communication with colleagues (100%)
o Relevant professional content (90%)
o Instructor's level and methods (90%)
o Mixed (university/school) teachers format (70%)
o Enough possibilities to express yourself (60%) Additional comments highlighted practical classes, interesting exercises, and the easy format of communication and cooperation as highly attractive elements.
6. Unattractive Aspects of the Course: The primary reason for the course being unattractive was constraints in time (80%). Some respondents also mentioned the mixed (university/school) teachers format as a factor (20%). However, a significant number of respondents (20%) expressed overall satisfaction, stating that there was little to no aspect of the course that they found unattractive.
7. Connection with Colleagues and Instructor: The vast majority of respondents (90%) felt very or extremely connected to the community of colleagues and the instructor.
8. Beneficial to Teaching Career: Almost all respondents (90%) believed that they learned new things in this course that would be beneficial to their teaching career.
9. Applicability to Professional Career: A majority of respondents (80%) found the knowledge and skills gained from this course highly applicable to their professional career.
10. Willingness to Share Experience: Most respondents (80%) expressed a willingness to share their experience and knowledge gained from this course with senior school students as part of a career guide.
11. Likelihood of Recommending Sumy State University: All respondents (100%) were very likely to recommend Sumy State University as an educational institution due to its modern approaches in teaching.
12. Likelihood of Recommending the Course and University for Professional Development: Again, all respondents (100%) were very likely to recommend this course and Sumy State University as options for professional development to another colleague.
13. Likelihood of Enrolling in a Future Similar Course: Most respondents (70%) were very likely to enroll in a future similar course, indicating a high level of satisfaction and interest in continuing professional development.
14. Impact on Future: Respondents provided various insights into how the course or its materials would impact them in the future, including updating pedagogical skills, enhancing communication, gaining expert knowledge, networking, renewing motivation, and boosting confidence.
15. Impact on Students: Many respondents shared how they planned to incorporate course materials into their classes, including using poetry, practicing different accents, implementing modern teaching methods, and engaging students in discussions and activities.

Overall, the questionnaire results indicate a highly positive experience for participants, with strong satisfaction in learning outcomes, course content, and instructor engagement. The findings suggest that the course effectively met the needs and expectations of participants, providing valuable knowledge and skills that are highly applicable to their teaching careers.
