We are delighted to share that Nataliia Tatsenko, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguodidactics, and Associate Professor Iryna Liashenko, both esteemed members of our department, recently participated in the TESOL Ukraine Institute on "Teaching in a Time of Crisis: Innovative Tools, Strategies, and Approaches to Improving English Learning for Ukrainians." The institute took place in Krakow from July 2nd to 7th, 2023, and was supported by the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine through the English Language Alumni Program.

The TESOL Ukraine Institute aimed to equip university teachers in Ukraine with stress-free teaching tips for online and blended learning environments. With the ever-increasing challenges of teaching during a crisis, this five-day training institute focused on providing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in teaching methodology to enhance the teaching experience of Ukrainian educators.

Participants had the opportunity to engage in four essential blocks of online and blended education, including Teaching Methodology, Designing Online or Blended Courses, Systemic-Functional Linguistics, and Social Emotional Learning. The sessions were designed to provide specific tools, techniques, and strategies for designing effective online and blended courses and incorporating the best practices from national and international experts.

The TESOL Ukraine Institute fostered a friendly and supportive atmosphere, encouraging collaboration and communication among participants. The picturesque attractions of Krakow provided a backdrop for cultural experiences, further enriching the learning environment.

We are proud to mention that Associate Professor Iryna Liashenko was also a speaker at the institute, delivering the course "Designing Online or Blended Courses". The course began with face-to-face sessions in Krakow, followed by an online component for a deeper understanding of practical functions.

The participation of Nataliia Tatsenko and Iryna Liashenko in the TESOL Ukraine Institute demonstrates their dedication to professional development and their commitment to providing high-quality education in English language teaching. We congratulate them on their successful completion of the institute and acknowledge the positive impact their enhanced skills will have on our department and the students we serve.

We extend our gratitude to TESOL Ukraine, the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, and the English Language Alumni Program for their invaluable support in promoting excellence in English language education. The TESOL Ukraine Institute has undoubtedly contributed to the advancement of teaching practices in our department and beyond.
