Head of the Department: DSc in Philology, Professor Nataliia Tatsenko The Department works with the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students of all forms of education, teaching English, German, French and Latin. The overall student body comprises about 6000 students and the Department staff includes 23 lecturers. All the courses taught aim at developing students` professional language competences, enabling them to function effectively in culturally diverse academic and professional environments. Innovative techniques employed by the Department faculty are in line with the developments in the field of foreign language teaching. Modern interactive teaching materials, audio, visual and computer equipment are available for the students in the Department class-rooms and laboratories.

Scientific interests of the lecturers include a wide range of problems within the field of EST and ESP teaching methods, scientific and technical terminology, distance learning, innovative teaching techniques, etc. The lecturers of the Department publish the results of their research work in the University editions and other professional editions, report them at art - of - the -field conferences and seminars.

The Department incorporates as its subdivisions a Linguistic Centre and a Students` Problem Laboratory which give us an opportunity to involve students into various out-of-class activities aimed at improving their operational command of foreign languages and making them motivated language learners. These are yearly student conferences, round-table discussions, interest clubs, video presentations, on-line communication, etc.
